Furniture
Moderately priced sources include Crate & Barrel, Wayfair and Walmart. Yes, Walmart. You might be surprised at what you can find there.
Ikea sells modern furniture and is an another alternative. Ikea’s products are stylish and well-priced but tend not to be that solidly made.
Design Within Reach, Pacific Rim, and Room and Board are other options.
1960s Danish nesting tables from ebay
There are also websites selling vintage modern furniture from the 1950s and 1960s, but they tend to be pricey. ebay is another alternative for those who don’t mind hunting for deals. Sometimes the finds there may require refinishing and reupholstery.
Rugs
The right rug can really improve the appearance of a room. And, of course, a rug can serve many practical purposes. The modern wool rugs found here can work nicely in a family room, while this jute rug can go under a dining table. In a smaller size it can also fit well in an entry area. Or pick from other jute or sisal rugs.
Window coverings
There is not much to say here beyond suggesting that you keep it simple. Blinds, drapes or cellular shades will work well in a house with a modern theme. Avoid valances and ornate curtain rods.

While not cheap, elfa® shelving from the Container Store provides a flexible and modern closet shelving solution. Price-wise, it costs less than many custom options that do not look as good and are of lower quality.
The Container Store will install the shelving for a reasonable charge, or you can do it yourself. We took the latter route and did not encounter any problems.
Tip: The Annual elfa® Shelving Sale typically begins in late December and lasts for eight weeks. Past sales have cut the price of elfa® products and installation by 30%.
Another, possibility is Rakks® shelving. It has a higher-end look and so can also be used in other areas such as a family room. At the same time, its installation is more involved.
